In a recent interview, Jyotsna, or Jyoti Vaidee, VP of Ads Product at Reddit explained their strategy to help attract more advertisers to the platform without affecting users’ experience.

By gauging the users based on how they interacted with content on the platform, Reddit could serve ads more in tune with their interests demonstrated on the site. Vaidee added that the platform’s move toward auto-targeting uses machine learning to analyze user behavior and deliver even more relevant ads.

In that respect, some of the recent investments by Reddit tell of its commitment toward AI-driven advertising solutions. According to Vaidee, “Full-funnel ad solution leveraging AI for value creation to improve advertiser performance is a key area of focus.” Equipped with an AI capability, businesses most definitely have more sophisticated targeting options, auto-optimization of ad placements, and creative customization.

We don’t necessarily have to make those same mistakes I saw, you know, our other companies make and then have to evolve and, you know, do, you know, migrations and whatnot to move toward this world of AI and Gen AI. I think we can quickly leapfrog to where we want to be. And I think technology in particular has made Gen AI a more level playing field for smaller players.

Balancing Monetization with User Experience

As Reddit continues to develop and expand its ad product offerings, it is committed to maintaining a great user experience. According to Vaidee, Reddit performs a balance of monetization with user controls and preferences. New ad placements will be available throughout new surfaces in Reddit, including within feeds, comments, and search results.

Vaidee: “We are very focused on building for the full funnel of measurement, so obviously as you know, not too long ago, Reddit launched our Reddit Brand Lift, our in-house product and we launched Conversion Lift. We are doing a lot in terms of integrating with advertisers more closely, whether it be through third parties or CAPI integration, so that way we are able to understand the signals better which obviously translates into better performance, and you know, better measurement.”
